Adair’s Saloon
Never a cover - Mostly Country/Red Dirt/Americana - Great Burgers!

AllGood Cafe
Some of the best artists and bands in the country perform at AllGood Cafe. It’s an intimate atmosphere with delicious food, beer & wine - No Smoking.

Amsterdam Bar
I ain’t been yet. I will go soon. They always put on great shows and people I know love the joint.

Bar of Soap
Suds and suds. Yep, do your laundry whilst sippin’ a cold beer. Bar of Soap acts as a laundry mat, and a live music venue, specializing in punk/rock/rockabilly and more great stuff.

Club Clearview - CLOSED

Club Dada
This venue offers an eclectic mix of genres ranging from Indie-Rock, Alt.Country, Hip-Hop, Shoegazer, Experimental, Tribute, and more on any given night.
Doors Usually at 6 PM - Cover Varies - Full Bar

Curtain Club
Rock/Metal/Punk/Indie

Darkside Lounge
Very cool little joint with intimate booths and a bar up front, then a stage with some mi-tee-fine acts in the rear. - Closed

Deep Ellum Blues - CLOSED

The Door
All ages venue.

The Double-Wide
I adore the Double-Wide. Fer uno, it’s run by a bunch of broads. Fer two they book great bands. Fer 3, there are plenty of venues within a venue to hang - front bar is cool, friendly and boasts a helluva jukebox. In-between outside area is a place to catch a breath of fresh air - Main stage bar is small, but intimate and I usually snag the booth before anyone else. All genres.

Fallout Lounge
Great little hangout with a tremendous staff - delish Martinis - Never a Cover - Free WiFi

Gypsy Tea Room CLOSED

Liquid Lounge
Smallish. Lots of rock/metal/indie stuff.

Prophet Bar
Housed in the old Gypsy Tea Room space and owned and operated by the legendary Russell Hobbs (Theater Gallery, The Door). It’s still a divine listening room and a great place to enjoy a libation or two.

Sons of Hermann
Prolly the oldest venue in Big D. A big-ass old building, rich in history and full of wonderful volunteers (read members) who are always welcoming and friendly. Some of the best artists in the world have performed here at some point and time. Upstairs is the main room with plenty of seating and a rather large dance-floor. Downstairs is the hang-out bar and former bowling alley where smaller shows take place.

Absinthe Lounge
A very cool and hip little joint with overstuffed comfy chairs, great music piping through the speakers, free WiFi, and one of the best Martini’s I’ve had to date.

Lee Harvey’s
Yeah, you could call Lee Harvey’s a dive bar, but it’s a damn fine dive bar. Very laid back, dog-friendly on Sundays, with tasty Bloody Marys and always a good musical/DJ line-up. Good food servied-up 5-10 PM.

Poor David’s Pub
Personally I miss the old location on Lower Greenville, I mean after-all, it was the joint where I put on my very first showcase years back. But the new place still has the same sort of charm with lots more room and (finally) decent restrooms.

Opening Bell
The focus here is on the coffee and the music. Owner Pascale brings in a variety of talent on any given night. Never a cover - Free WiFi - Limited menu includes yummy deserts - Beer & Wine

Bend Studio
Yoga studio by day, intimate listening room at night. Where your good socks, cuz you gotta lose the shoes at the door. BYOBeerand/orWine (corking fee). A great place for true music lovers.

Lakewood Bar & Grill
Neighborhood bar/grill with a range of musical genres on any given night. They got food too.

Barley House
Honestly? I miss the old Barley House on Henderson. Barley still serves up good grub and books some of our favorite bands and musicians…so go dammit!

The Cavern
Upstairs relax, watch TV, listen to a great jukebox and some great DJs. Downstairs, great bands command the stage. If you gotta sit, get there early cuz seating is limited. Drinks are a little pricey, but the bands are usually worth it.

Granada Theater
One of my favorite Dallas venues. It’s smoke-free (yay), early shows, great staff, awesome bands performing. What more could you ask?

Suede Bar
I haven’t been here yet. However, I do know they have a nice little upstairs/outdoor deck and the book some really great Texas/Red Dirt Country artists.

Plano/Lewisville

Love & War in Texas
The good news is that Love & War brings in some of the best Texas Country/Red Dirt/Americana bands around. The bad news is that the stage is outside - and today it’s 106 degrees. Full bar - full menu.

Fat Daddy’s
All ages venue

Denton

Andy’s
Never been

Dan’s Silverleaf
A particular Fine Line Fave. Dan’s is a great little bar with a nice enough staff and a great owner.

Hailey’s
Love this place. It’s big, yet intimate at the same time. Great music is a tradition. Highly recommended.

J&J’s Pizza
Quite possibly the oddest little place for music. Pizza joint upstairs is pretty standard with muy bueno bites. But if you venture down into the basement you’ll find a low-ceiling’d little Sohoesque area where all sorts of music can be experienced. We love J&J’s.

Rubber Gloves
You gotcher front bar with tables and a little peace and quiet. You gotcher back room with a stage and really good bands and horrible air conditioning.

Secret Headquarters
DIY brain child of some of Denton’s finest. Always cheap. Always good. Always early. Just go fool. - Closed

Texas Jive

Fort Worth

1919 Hemphill
1919 is a collectively-run, all-volunteer, not-profit, warehouse space. They’ve been around since September 2002 surviving on (mostly small) donations to keep the doors open for their programs and services. These include maintaining a radical lending library, a ‘free store’, an alcohol and smoke-free all-ages d.i.y. performance arts space, a documentary film series, and a meeting place for community organizations.

The Aardvark
Genres range from rock to metal to country to roots. Lots of young peeps.

Black Dog Tavern CLOSED
I ain’t been to the new location but if the Stash and Muffy say this is a good joint…then by gosh it’s a good joint.

The Chat Room Pub
Booking great shows!

Fred’s Texas Cafe
Good food, good friends, good music, and it’s the hell outta Dallas

Jack’s Off the Wall

Lola’s
Prolly one of the best venues in the Fort. Spune Productions does all the booking, so you can imagine how magnificent the shows are at Lola’s.

MacHenry’s
Great little bar chock full of folk, Texas country, Celtic and more. - Closed

Metrognome Collective CLOSED
‘nuther DIY-type mixture of art and music. Very cool stuff goin’ down at the MC. and it’s always BYOB.

The Moon Bar
Great little bar - great performing bands.

Ridglea Theater
The Ridglea has become the premier concert venue of it’s size in the metroplex if not in the state. While still great supporters of local music and bands, the Ridglea has become a destination for National and International bands as well.

Scat Jazz Lounge
Opened by beloved crooner, Ricki Derek, the Scat Lounge is the place to hit if you are a jazz lover.

White Elephant
I think this is the Stockyards oldest bar, dating back like a 100-years or so. Very very good live Country/Bluegrass/Americana/Red Dirt music.

Woody’s Tavern
Great Texas Country/Red Dirt bands and Sports on the big screens everywhere you turn

Wreck Room
One of my favorite FW hangs…that’s it. - Closed
