Dada, Deadead?

Posted by Cindy on September 1st, 2009

A promoter just informed me that one of her bands had to move to Poor David’s Pub cuz Club Dada informed her they were closing their doors.

I ain’t been hanging on any of the local media blogs’n'such as of late, so what’s the scoop? Anybody?

Update: well it seems I’m the only one in town who didn’t know Dada had closed. Hm. Call it working in Plano and living in Richardson, I suppose.

It is sad, but, I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. Hopefully YOU will open it back up and get some good bands in there!

Why haven’t we seen anything by Pete Freedman on this?

Honestly, I haven’t looked at the Observer (print or online) in months. I’ve been too wrapped-up in Quick and Art & Seek.

Lance, I’d love to be able to open and run a venue like Dada, but I fear the rents ’round there are going to be too high for any one person to do so…dammit…

It’s because those involved in Dada aren’t saying anything. They probably shouldn’t, it’s a bunch of he-said-she-said. But, shiz was getting funked up there and it was prolly time for a regime change.

    Hey Cindy,

If you’re really interested in Dada, or know someone who is, give me a call. I can’t go into detail here, but I can offer guidance to those who are seriously interested in applying.

Danny, Pete is being nice enough to keep quiet about the situation because I promised to give him the scoop first. I’m not ready yet. :)

    Thanks,
    Val

A part of me would love to run Dada…that is, if I had the money to do so…but what a scary scary concept…it’s a scary world, live music venue operatin’….and I have to give kudos to Val and Ben for the courage to try…
