News from Da’hood

So there’s news. But I can’t tell you all of it just yet. However, I can tell you that there’s a new live music venue opening up here in Deep Ellum, in the next couple of months, in a former venue’s space. And no. It’s not Trees.
If they pull it off, it’s going to be the most state-of-the-art music venue in the country. Plus, their contacts are pals with some of the biggest artists in the world. Very exciting stuff.
Second, there’s a huge music festival in the works that’s going to blow you away. Super, super super cool stuff.

M2S2 was established in 2008 to serve as an annual gathering of music industry professionals engaging in positive discussions on the DFW/Denton music scene and to showcase local bands.
Hosted by Life in Deep Ellum and the Carter Albrecht Music Foundation, the idea is to bring together under one roof industry insiders, media, musicians, producers, venue owners, label management, supporters and fans of the DFW/Denton music scene. The hope from there is to encourage natural conversation on the music scene and ways to make it better while celebrating all that is good about DFW/Denton music.
All net proceeds from the event will go toward music and art efforts of Life in Deep Ellum and the Carter Albrecht Music Foundation.
The afternoon (Noon-4) is dedicated to showcasing the Zounds Sounds program with a CD release and school of rock band showcase. The event is open to the public.
A private, invitation-only dinner for music industry professionals and sponsors will be held from 5:30-6:45 before doors open to the public for an evening of live music. The dinner will feature video discussion of music scene issues and the announcement of the Carter Albrecht Award recipients.
From 4:30-6:45 in the Mokah Gallery, local artists will be on hand for a reception showcasing the art and photography on sale to raise funds for the host organizations.
