I swore up and down that I wasn’t going to post anymore multi-show stuff…rather stick with the one I plan to attend, but what the hell…this is a good night for venue-hoppin’…at least I lasted longer at this than my short stint as a vegetarian…*ahem*
Friday, January 11th
Adair’s Saloon
Rodney Pyeatt
Good ol’ Texas Country with some Red Dirt, blues and southern rock.
9 PM – Free
Club Dada
The Chemistry Set (FINAL SHOW) / Calhoun
I’ll be here. Danny will be here. The Ghost of Blind Lemon will be there. Jenn will be there. Hell, we’ll all be there.
10 PM
AllGood Cafe
The Ginn Sisters
Think early Dixie Chicks. Think two hot sisters who will charm you with both their singing and their humor.
10-Bucks – 9 PM
The Double Wide
The King Bucks / Malt Country
If you take 2 parts of Budapest One, add in one Sorta and a Butcher with some Cunningham, then you getcherself The King Bucks. Keith Killoren, Chad Stockslager, Danny Balis, Joe Butcher and Chris Cunningham make up this divine folksy, Americana band. Muy bueno. Malt Country is a bunch of kids from Fort Worth who play darn fine Alt.Country/Texas Country music.
10 PM
Sloppyworld
WeShotJR.com Presents: The Transona Five / Theater Fire / Dust Congress / J. Gray
Theater Fire and Dust Congress are hall of famer Fine Line Favorites. J. Gray is freakin’ fab. The Transona Five are one helluva good reason to head out tonight. This band has been around for some time, but they haven’t played a show in quite awhile. Thank Gawd, they’s back giggin’. Read the interview with Chris Anderson.
5-bucks – BYOB – 9ish
Barley House
Graham Wilkinson and the Underground Township
I freakin’ LOVE this man/band. Austin comes to Dallas in a way only Austin can. Not to miss. Good stuff. I dunno how I’m going to swing it, but I’m going to try to make this show too. (Folksy, Rootsy, Creamy Goodness)
10ish – No Cover
Granada Theater
Tejas Brothers / Two Tons of Steel / Eleven Hundred Springs
Eleven Hundred Springs are enough to get me to a show, even if I have to walk barefoot through the snow pulling a carriage full of crying babies behind me. The other two bands are like buttah. (Country/Americana/Honky Tonk)
$12-$15 – Doors at 7 PM
Sunward / Johnny Citizen aka Daniel Miller
8 PM – Free
If you love dreamy, spacey, gorgeous, melodic pop, the Sunward is your band. If you don’t like ‘em, then you have absolutely horrible taste in music. Johnny Citizen is “Americana influenced indie glam pop. Pale sadsappysucker with Americana soul.” Or as I like to say, just really good sh*t that I could listen to all night.
Dan’s Silverleaf
Wayne “the Train” Hancock
Hell’s bells, this boy can (and will) put on a show. Some of the best durn Rockabilly in the world.
Doors at 9
Hailey’s
Telegraph Canyon = Brilliant / Smile Smile = Magnificant / Oso Closo = Divine / Black Tie Dynasty = Fantastic – nuff said
Doors at 9 PM – $5-$7
The Moon Bar
Hosty Duo / Kevin Aldridge / Collin Herring
Best show in town.
White Elephant
Mark David Manders
Damn fine country music with enough honky-tonk to keep your tonk quite honky.
$10 – 9 PM
There are probably more shows, most of which are for the cool kids, therefore I’m not privy to that information. Bah…go here or here or here to find more. Or just do as I do and…
“Raise Hell Drink Beer” by Eleven Hundred Springs

January 11th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
I like early Dixie Chicks. And hot sisters.
Hmmm…
(By the way, that vegetarian thing is easy. Depending on your motivation, of course. I can help with that. Not the motivation…the other part.)

By the way, go visit the DC09 site if you get a minute…
