Weekend Whaddup

Posted by Cindy on January 4th, 2008

There’s plenty going on this weekend, plenty indeed. Grimey is leaving…or at least drinkin’ about leaving. Lovie is playing tonight. Pleasant Grove will be performing at AllGood Cafe tomorrow night. Chatterton will be at The Cavern tonight with Fate Lions (Jason Manriquez’ new band) and Cush – Sweet. There are, of course, always good shows at The Double Wide. Bend is lookin’ all Bend-ee, with some my-tee-fine shows both tonight (Matt the Electrician and Bruce Hughes) and tomorrow night (Kathleen Edwards and Jeff Plankenhorn) *say hey to the Knob*. Pinebox Serenade will be at Dan’s tomorrow night. Red Young and Silvie Rider at the Scat Lounge tomorrow night.

If the girl-child wasn’t heading back to Austin on Sunday, I’d be heading there tonight for a spectacular show at Stubb’s My boy, Doug Burr is performing there tonight with an all-star band, including multi-talented Todd Pertll, the magnificent Eleanor Whitmore. Also performing, one of my new loves, Bob Guittard’s Flat People and Low Line Caller.

Danny and I have made a pact to get ourselves out of our collective funks (and houses) and actually do something this weekend….for as little cash-out as possible. So Danny, here’s the schedule….here is where we’ll be this weekend. Got it? Good…

TONIGHT, Friday, January 4th (that is, if I don’t get a wild hair and go to Austin)

This film is FAN-FREAKIN’-TASTIC! I know. Don’t ask how. I just know. So meet us at Kettle Art tomorrow night!

I fear that dragging Danny to this lil’ shindig might prove a bit more difficult. The boy just don’t like Country music much. Maybe the Knob will join us and put on the peer pressure….

Chili Cook-off. Prizes for best chili and most original chili.
From Poor David: We are looking for people to enter the cook-off. so far it is me, David Busby and Susan Richards. The more the chilier, I always say! Rumor has it that Texas Rock Association (band) will be having a “chili for Rusty” booth. Also Kim Swayze, big-time chili head, is entering and inviting his entire Bike-riding club to attend. Looks like we’ll be having some Hog-flavored chili that day! Remember to name your chili after Rusty, with a sign. Mine is “The World’s Greatest Entertainer Chili” because I coined the phrase. ~David Card~

I’m sure there is a lot more going on, you know the usual places to look. I’m simply too upset and worried about Britney right now to go on any further….
