Dear Cindy,

Many thanks for your exhaustive coverage and tribute to Carter.

His songs made me cry when he was alive. They were always so down-right fucking beautiful without relying on conventional sentimentalities. I doubt you have to imagine how many tears have been shed the last few days.

The world is certainly a grayer place without him in it, but I'll always feel my life is richer knowing he was here, sharing his phenomenal gifts with grace. He was the kind of friend even late-comers like me who heard his music first then was lucky enough to share snapshot moments, lifetimes within each, as the great man he was.

In life, as in death, Carter always left you wanting more.

it was a amazing service, with many great stories from carter's friends and family, hundreds of pictures, and of course his music.

carter's myspace page will be checked often by his friends and family, so leave a comment or memory.

Missed having you there. Though I'm sure we would have cried that much more together. It was a beautiful service.

Sweet Cindy, I thought of you while at the service. It was touching and truly a celebration, you would have appreciated it. I wish you were close by so I could give you a big bear hug. Thank you for all you've done to cheer on the music scene in Dallas. I'm grateful, like so many other people, for your big heart and your commitment.

I have some info for people interested in making a donation in celebration of Carter:
