Caravan of Information

I’m still swollen and sore. Surgery can be a bitch. Then again, so can I.
I’ve been lurking about antique stores and flea markets as of late. When I was a kid, many many weekends were spent with my little brother in tow, whilst mommy combed through antique stores in and around the Quadrangle in Dallas. Although we hated those times as kids, both the bro and I grew up with a love of century old antiques and a certain respect for a fine piece of junk.
Years later I spent about a half decade managing several antique markets. I loved the biz. But those antique dealers are whacko, which is why I’m considering becoming one myself. I’ve got the whacko thing down, now I just need the wares and a place to sell ‘em.
I was just over at Caravan of Dreams and noticed that Steve did a nice little interview with ex-Star Telegram music writer-dude, Malcolm Mayhew. Did you know he quitted his gig as the Startlegram music critic? I didn’t. Not only that, but he’s gone back into the antique business. Hm. Me thinks inspiration is seeping in.
I can see it now. A little corner in an antique market in San Antonio or perhaps New Braunfels. Every weekend I’ll have singer-songwriters perform throughout the day while I make my ten$ of twentie$ selling old stuff. Sigh….
Steve also reports that the Star-Telegram reports that the Ridglea Theater just about done got closed up - back property taxes or something. Thankfully the cash has transacted and all is well. Whew…

Thanks for the link-o. I can speak from personal experience that the antique biz ain’t for wimps. Malcolm does a great job and he’s got some cool schtuff.
Stay classy, Cindy, and get well soon.
