I’m so so so so behind here at The Fine Line. Ongoing illness, family emergencies, roofers and gutter-guys taking over my house, dogs barking ad nauseum, and general lackluster have all held my attention, or lack thereof, as of late. Last night’s interview was one helluva second wind. So for better or worse, I’m back.
Let’s quickly (get it?) catch-up with the doin’s over at QuickDFW.com cuz thankfully there’s lots of content still relevant…like…
Paul Salfen’s interview with the wicked hot, wicked handsome, wickedly talented Johnny Lloyd Rollins…
California native-turned-Dallasite Johnny Lloyd Rollins has been compared to popular ’50s and ’60s artists, and that’s where he draws his most obvious influences. He’s a showman in the traditional sense of the word, giving entertaining perfor-mances where some of his peers are content to gaze at their feet.
After releasing low budget EP Let’s Be Poor Together last year, Rollins now looks forward to next year’s release of a recently completed full-length album, which was produced by Salim Nourallah at Pleasantry Lane Studios. He hopes to release the album “on a good label,” tour stateside and return to England, where he’s done well before, sometime next year. Here’s more from Rollins…
I met Johnny like 2 or more years ago. I was doing live webcasts over at Standard & Pours and this kid comes in with more energy and enthusiasm than the SMU Cheer Squad. I fell in love instantly. He placed a self-made copy of his EP into my hot little hands and I fell in love all over again. Johnny is goin’ to the top…mark my words.
