[...] Tonight David will be performing once again for The Fine Line’s Artist in Residence series. He’ll play from 6 to9 and if last week is any indication, it will be one hell of a show. Will he play three hours straight again? Will he surprise us with even more local music legends sitting in? One thing is for sure, he will rock the snot out of you and you better get there early. People were arriving last week as early as 5:30 and the place was packed by 6:15. Read what The Observer’s Merritt Martin had to say here. Didn’t make last week’s David show? You fool! This is what you missed. Oh. And you missed this, too. And, yes, David stuck around all night long, so if you want to get your swoon on or stand next to The Great One, he’ll be there. Oh, and I suggest you buy him a shot of Patron. No salt, no lime. Following David at 9, will be Austin, Texas’ Chris McFarland. Simply put, straightforward acoustic and gritty guitar work tremble under the scratchy been-there voice of this singer songwriter. No Depression calls his work a welcome addition and Cosmik.com says, “McFarland’s particular talent is to access his anger as a means to exorcise his anger, a process that puts the proverbial silver lining into some of the storm clouds of sound he cranks out.” Next, all the way from New York City, is one Mr. Alex Nackman at 10. He’s opened for an impressive host of headliners including The Roots, Norah Jones, Glen Phillips, Pat McGee Band, and Ari Hest among others Fly Magazine says, “He writes lyrics that betray the fact that Nackman himself is just 20 years old.” Even more recently, his song ‘Waiting Home’ garnered a spot on upcoming soundtrack for the indie flick, Living Life. He’ll be heading for an England tour in November, catch him while you can. Finally at 11, the boys that have been giving me fits, Dallas’ Blackheart Society will be shaking things up. These boys have been giving me fits all week. Cam threatening to tie me to a chair with Josh while forcing us to listen to Jim Neighbors. Ben practicing his extortion techniques on me while poor little Josh is fighting with Cam. Already a handful, they’ll be giving us an earful of their extraordinarily yummy talent, and I for one can’t wait. High-tail it to Dada tonight! See you there… [...]
